Ellerslie AFC

WELCOME TO ELLERSLIE AFC SENIORS

We cater for men and women from the age of 18 all the way up to the 35+ age group. Talented younger players may also play up in our U19 or elite senior squads.

Our main home is Michaels Ave Reserve which is located on one of Ellerslie’s most sought after streets – Michaels Ave. We share our ground with both Ellerslie Cricket in the Summer and the YMCA Ellerslie all year round. We have several other fields nearby that teams may find themselves playing at for a home game due to the ever increasing size of both the Senior and Junior/Youth divisons of the club. These are Simson Reserve in Penrose, Waikaraka Park and a couple of good quality fields at Pt England Reserve.

While Ellerslie AFC may in the past has had a reputation for being the "peoples club" (as we encouraged participation at all levels rather than necessarily seeking excellence), we are now starting to see the fruit of our Junior/Youth divsion having a full time coaching director in place, and his player development plans. This means that talented younsters are spotted and given every chance to progress and have a future in the game we love. Importantly, this process doesn’t put at risk the social player who is still a very important component of life at Ellerslie AFC.

Our current First Team coach Warren Parke has come right through the Clubs junior and youth coaching ranks and helped develop some players that are truly talented (including some playing at ASB Premiership and New Zealand Youth International level). There are always more coming through from our talented under 19 and under 17 teams. Warren is also in charge of our Napier U19’s tournament squads, where we have finished in the top 4, in 2008 and made the last 8 in 2009.
