CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME 2011
It’s amazing reading back over last years message and realizing how wrong and how right one can be when trying to be welcoming, hopefully a little entertaining and actually being surprisingly prophetic.
The media seemed to keep the negative spin on everything and if you hear it enough you start to believe it. But luckily our club continued to achieve at all levels with great results and success for many within the club, while others enjoyed slightly less success but continued to play with passion and enthusiasm.
And what about those All Whites!! While, if you take the practical point of view, they achieved exactly what many nae-sayers had suggested; Nothing. But what an exciting ride it was as they carried us on the edge of our seats through 3 extraordinary and enthralling games. If only we had found one more moment of brilliance the tale could have been even more astonishing than what we got. If someone had offered you a bet prior to the tournament that we’d draw with the power of Italy you would have laughed at them.
Once more enjoy the new season. Support your team or teams and also bring the kids along to watch our senior club First Team this season for what promises to be a potentially big season which will hopefully set the stage for a great future.
