A message from the Chairman

On behalf of the Ellerslie A.F.C. I would like to welcome everyone; players, supporters and web surfers alike, to our website. Whether you are here to find results, register as a player or social member, check your teams draw or just check out what is happening in sport in your or another community I hope you take a little extra time to have a good look through the site and learn more about our club, it's plans and what the future holds for us.

Developments are well under way to redevelop the park and our facilities and we are working closely with the council, various project developers and local experts to ensure that what is put in place is effective, financially viable and has the greatest impact and benefit for the community as a whole. Our club, and the sport as a whole is crying out for these improvements but we cannot blindly go forward thinking only of ourselves if we wish to improve the outlook for football within Ellerslie if all stakeholders are not incorporated, and they include the neighbourhood and other sporting groups associated with Michaels Avenue.

Plans made public so far show an exciting new look and layout for the area and as consultation and discussion continue an optimum layout will be produced which hopefully satisfies as many of the stakeholders as possible. Of course there are going to have to be sacrifices but with the right processes in place these should hopefully be to a minimum.

The season ahead also holds many new challenges. A new league for our Premier side after the dissolution of the long standing Northern Regional competition means a new look, new leaders and organisers and, all going well, a new invigoration and energy in the sport. To help us with this we ask all teams managers, players and supporters to do their very best to make this transition as easy on ourselves as possible by being prepared and less reliant on already overworked volunteers. If we all do a little extra it will lighten the load across the board.

All the best to all the teams and if you are new to the area or just looking for some social interaction please feel free to visit the site and the club whenever you can. Visitors, and especially families are more than welcome.
